One term used in the Energy Healing world for many decades is Energy Vampire. An Energy Vampire is someone who sucks the life out of you with their story or unhealed energy, leaving you feeling DRAINED.
However, an important shift we need to make in our own personal healing, or spiritual healing is to stop polarizing by making the other person wrong for not being in touch with in themselves.
For this reason, I don’t like the term Energy Vampire and find that it demonizes people for having a deep need. And what is that need?
It is LOVE.
Yes that’s right. Energy Vampires are people who need love. They need love in the form of mothering or fathering, or they have a deep deprivation of love and may be moving through a time in their life when deprivation feels very intense to them.
At any given time in our lives, any of us might be considered an Energy Vampire, walking around, needing a deep love inside to be met.
For this reason, the term “Energy Vampire” needs to disappear from the spirituall or energy healing vocabulary. Yes, that is my strong opinion.
An Energy Vampire is not someone who’s here to hurt you or take your energy. In fact, they are here to teach you about your own empathic and intuitive abilities and how to have stronger boundaries. They are also here to teach you about you owning your own power and presence. Additionally, they are here to teach you about how to pray for someone who is in deep need of love.
Here are 3 ways to prevent Energy Vampires:
1) Stop Calling them Energy Vampires. See them as people who are in a particular time in their life when they really need love. See them as people who need parenting and probably needed a therapeutic process or healing around some deeper unmet needs. It doesn’t mean you have to meet their needs, if that’s not appropriate. You do get to speak your truth with love and kindly guide them to the awareness that is a little child inside them looking for love in all the wrong places. That child may need a therapist, healer, or a teacher who can show them what love is and give them what they need. Pray for for love to fill up the vacancies in them.
2) Know YOU have an Intuitive Gift. You are empathic, you have intuitive gifts and abilities, and you are open. These are all characteristics of being a healer. Yet healers need training. Someone who is in need of love may come to you because there is a nurturing quality in you. This person might be mirroring to you that you have the ability to be a healer in the world, and you might need to take that seriously and find training around your intuitive gift. The Intuitive Healer Training Program could be the next step for you.
3) Expand Your Light, Get Grounded and Get Centered. The central channel in your body that runs from the crown of your head to your tailbone is your energetic center. When you radiate your light out, fill yourself up with Grace, ground yourself, and stay present in your body your radiance does not allow absorption. In other words, when you radiate out, you do not absorb in. The only reason you ever take energy in is if you are not occupying the fullness of your body. Radiating out comes with you feeling strong, confident, and centered in who you are. That in itself is a process, and may require receiving energy healing to support you in unblocking your own energy so you are centered and vibrant. Yoga can also do this!
